Cover Feature: Formation of Eigen or Zundel Features at Protonated Water Cluster–Aromatic Interfaces (ChemPhysChem 16/2023)

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Cover Feature illustrates the solvation of proton by water at aromatic-water interface. authors show, using first principles calculations, that Eigen or Zundel Features are formed on top benzene, coronene dodecabenzocoronene depending aromatic ring size. Water at Interfaces.

The interfaces of neat water and aqueous solutions play a prominent role in many technological processes and in the environment. Examples of aqueous interfaces are ultrathin water films that cover most hydrophilic surfaces under ambient relative humidities, the liquid/solid interface which drives many electrochemical reactions, and the liquid/vapor interface, which governs the uptake and releas...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Protonated water dimer on benzene: standing Eigen or crouching Zundel?

Protonated water clusters that are hydrogen-bonded to a neutral benzene molecule are a reductionist model for protons at hydrophobic surfaces, which are of fundamental importance in biological energy transduction processes. Of particular interest is the protonated water dimer ("Zundel ion") on benzene, whose gas-phase messenger IR spectrum has been previously interpreted in terms of an asymmetr...

Water at biomolecular binding interfaces.

Water molecules are often found at the binding interface of biomolecular complexes mediating the interaction between polar groups via hydrogen bonds, or simply filling space providing van der Waals interactions. Recent studies have demonstrated the importance of taking such water molecules into account in docking and binding affinity prediction. Here, we review the recent experimental and theor...
